"Take Up and Write One Good Sentence,"

says Ernest Heminway. I will, and it is this: We are so blessed.

Little things

It must only be God's doing when the Truth is discovered beneath the most insignificant of items, even something so hidden and forgotten as a broken nail trimmer. Today Truth was unveiled. With a now re-operating nail trimmer whose parts had been separated from one another for at least a year, I realized once again how God is always taking care of us and rejoices in the hidden, the forgotten, the abandoned. To Him, what matters most is that we had great love in caring for someone or something as opposed to being sure our names or the projects themselves were lit up in shining lights while our characters corroded beneath.

Randomly I will have various items thrown into my pocket by myself throughout the day. Today I had one little clipper that, I was almost certain, belonged to a dissembled nail clipper. After lunch had finished and I set my hand to rest in my pocket, I felt a metal "reminder": the clip to the trimmer. Following a few tasks, happily gathering siblings and a father together to gather 'round a potty-trainee on the toilet; gathering two tired little ones for teeth brushing, I found the other parts to the trimmer, and all fit together! Thank you, Jesus.

Throughout my life I am continually reminded not to look for the fleeting praise of another, but to do all for the One, Who does care about the little, hidden, and seemingly insignificant things, because in the small tasks our sanctity lies.

Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows. (Lk. 12:7)

Penny's first confession

... so beautiful and moving. As one of our dear priest friends once told us immediately after Cal's first Confession, "Congratulations, your family tree of grace is growing!" What a difference Christ's forgiveness
(Penny with our pastor right after her interview on Tuesday.)
(Sweet Nellie, we know Mimi is so proud of you as she prays for your soul to be so holy and for you to know how much God loves you!)

, light and grace have on a family. We love you, sweet Penny!
