Zoo Time

This morning we headed out bright and early for the National Zoo. What a blessing it is to have such a beautiful zoo in our area to walk through frequently. On the way to the zoo we enjoyed the sunshine pouring through the windows, with a hot cup of coffee in our hand, and a book in my other hand. We read Two at the Zoo by Danna Smith on the way. (Just a few other fun zoo books are: The Happy Lion, Dear Zoo, The Escape of Marvin the Ape.) We arrived around 8am, so it was very quiet with various animals out, early-morning runners passing through the zoo, and the 70-degree spring air blowing softly through the honeysuckle bushes and bamboo trees. The girls had a real blast just riding in the stroller for a while and eating animal crackers, before getting out to roar with the tigers and lions. Afterward we got to visit Old Ebbitt Grill near the White House, thanks to a gift card from friends. Delicious food. Fun company. A beautiful day. More fun to come. Thank you, Lord.
